Why is it important?
The MLTSSL is important to Australia’s skilled migration program. If your occupation is listed, you may be able to apply for points-tested skilled visas without employer sponsorship, including Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) – Points-tested, Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) and the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).
To be considered, applicants generally need to meet the minimum points test score (currently at least 65 points), obtain a positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority and demonstrate an appropriate level of English language proficiency.
Many MLTSSL occupations offer strong pathways to permanent residency (PR), either through direct PR visas or via provisional visas that provide a clear route to PR. Examples include External Auditor (ANZSCO 221213) and General Practitioner (ANZSCO 253111).
If your occupation appears on the MLTSSL, you benefit from some of the most flexible and independent migration pathways available, making it an excellent option if you want to live and work in Australia long term.
