The subclass 103 parent visa is open to parents with a child or children permanently settled in Australia. This includes citizens, permanent residents and eligible citizens of New Zealand.

What is the balance of family test?

To meet the balance of family test, at least half (or the majority) of your children need to be permanently settled in Australia. This includes any adopted or step-children.

Are 103 visa applicants granted bridging visas?

No. You will not be granted a bridging visa if you apply onshore.

Am I eligible for a 103 parent visa?

  • Meet balance of family test
  • Meet health and character requirements
  • Be able to obtain an assurance of support from an eligible person
  • Have no outstanding debts to the Government or have a plan in place to pay any back
  • Have an eligible person or organisation to sponsor you
